Recent advances in artificial intelligence and automation, as well as ever-increasing capacities of smart devices, have created a whole new business ecosystem. Additionally, customers are demanding more innovative, more diverse and greener products. This creates numerous challenges for all actors in the supply chain; yet, they also present a chance to create solutions and practices that improve performance and productivity. HICL 2017 focuses on research concepts and ideas that enable these tools and ideas to be used in logistics and SCM.
