This document presents a description of the Santa Maria dataset. It includes a short description of the area were the observations and soil samples were produced, including the procedures for soil sampling and description. The analytical methods are described thoroughly. The reader should be aware of the fact that soil science evolved in Brazil following a somewhat different pathway than in the countries of the northern hemisphere due to the specific features of tropical soils. Methods have been adapted along the years, possibly leading to nomenclature mismatches. This document is in process of translation from Portuguese to English. This document is a draft version.
