Regarding the previous comments, we think that in the years to come it would be awesome to advance the theoretical tools and derive the equations for other types of communities apart from annual plants, so we would be able to calculate niche and fitness differences for complex communities such as the Californian grasslands. Additionally, the sentence of the discussion of the article "native perennials may co-occur with exotic annuals [...] at a landscape scale [...]" made us remind of the idea of a possible geographic mosaic of coexistence (i.e. large scale coexistence conformed by a mosaic of local coexistence patterns), that we will probably explore in the following years.
