Abstract

This report outlines the ELEC 413 Semiconductor Lasers 2017-2018 Course Project design of a Bragg grating cavity. The main design objectives of this project is to create a Bragg grating cavity with highest possible Quality Factor at a 1550 nanometer wavelength. A list of parameter choices of eight design variations and the corresponding simulated performance parameters (FSR, bandwidth, and Quality Factor Q), are included. Expected results are graphed via MATLAB and Lumerical Interconnect. The devices will be measured using circuit simulation through Lumerical Interconnect, in addition to circuit simulation Monte Carlo to test variations between Si wafers.
