The motivation behind Silicon photonics is to allow for large-scale integration of photonic circuits in Silicon systems for a multitude of applications. [Chrostowski 2015]. The objectives of this project are to model optical cirucits and utilize electronic-design automation tools for circuit design and layout, to create a Bragg grating cavity with highest possible Quality Factor at a chosen wavelength. A list of parameters choices of seven design variations, including simulated performance parameters (FSR, bandwidth, and Quality Factor Q), are included. Expected results are graphed via MATLAB and Lumerical Interconnect. The devices will be measured using circuit simulation through Lumerical Interconnect, in addition to circuit simulation Monte Carlo to test variations between Si wafers.
