J. Lisowski

Professor Józef Lisowski, born on in 1943 in Lukow, he is a graduate of the Gdansk University of Technology, where he obtained degrees: Master of Science in electrical engineering in 1967, PhD in technical sciences in 1973 and DSc in 1979. From 1980 until now he has been working at the Maritime University of Gdynia as full professor. In 1989-1996 and 2002-2008 he was elected rector of the Maritime University in Gdynia, in the years 1980-2017 he was the head of the Department of Ship Automation, and in the years 2013-2016 the head of the Doctoral Studies at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering. Professor Lisowski is a specialist in the field of electrical engineering, in the specialization of ship electro-automation. He deals with the automation of the processes of optimal and adaptive vessel traffic control, and in particular the synthesis of computer algorithms supporting safe ship steering in collision situations, including methods of artificial intelligence and the theory of differential games.
He is the author of 278 scientific publications, including 12 books, 12 scientific monographs and 4 patents. He promoted 11 doctors and over 480 master science and electrical engineers, navigators and maritime transport. As a visiting professor he lectured in maritime universities in: Australia, China, Finland, Ireland, Japan, Germany, Nigeria, USA and Vietnam.
