Program Coordinator & Associate Professor of Education
Charles C. Igel, PhD is Associate Professor of Education and the Program Coordinator for Elementary Teacher Licensure in Regis University’s Division of Education. Charles’s work focuses on the ways people learn, exercise intentionality, and make sense of the world. This includes developing and researching processes for analyzing complex phenomena, and the study of methods for enhancing executive skills. Among his regular courses, he teaches educational foundations and social science research. Through these he emphasizes the relational nature of the profession, the importance of systematic analysis for understanding phenomena, and the integration of empirical research and wisdom traditions into professional practice. Prior his appointment at Regis, Charles held the position of Senior Researcher at McREL/REL-Central. He began his career in education as a licensed public school teacher, and served as a non-commissioned officer in the US Army Reserves (11th Special Forces Group). He holds a PhD in methodology and applied statistics from University of Virginia’s Curry School of Education, and an MA in teaching from Virginia Commonwealth University.
