Case of sphincter reconstruction and stoma in situ for abdominoperineal
resection with rectal cancer: A 34-year experience
Abstract
Sphincter reconstruction and stoma in situ is an exploratory surgery for
abdominoperineal resection of rectal cancer; its functional outcome is a
major concern. This is a rare case of long-term survival with unilateral
gluteus maximus fasciculus reconstruction, in a patient with the ability
to control defecation and distinguish gas.
