Image of polystyrene-styrene emulsion in water obtained with a STEM-in-SEM/"WetSTEM" approach to imaging.  Although this image was obtained with a scanning electron microscope, is not environmentally relevant, and is of relatively large particles, it is qualitatively representative of images of nanoplastics that will be generated with LTEM, and further demonstrates that STEM will provide sufficient contrast to view plastics in water.  Image reproduced from Figure 7 (b) in Bogner et al.
