Incarcerated umbilical hernia following large-volume paracentesis: a
rare complication after orthotopic liver transplantation
Abstract
Umbilical hernia post-liver transplantation is a possibility, especially
with decompensated liver disease with ascites formation. Incarceration
of umbilical hernia is a complication of large-volume paracentesis (LVP)
with significant morbidity and mortality in cirrhotics. We report an
incarcerated umbilical hernia after LVP post-liver transplantation and
was successfully managed with emergent herniorrhaphy.
